Q: Do you have a specialization? What does that mean, exactly?

A: Yes, I specialize in maternity through baby’s first year. That means that while I LOVE shooting all kinds of families, kids, seniors, etc., I am specifically focused on learning and refining the art of maternity and baby posing. I have an ever-growing supply of props just for babies, and I often pursue educational experiences in this area.

Q: What can I expect from a newborn session?

A: Well, first you can expect me to show up at your house with armfuls of gear! Newborn photos take lots of time and patience. We’ll begin by scheduling the shoot when your baby is about 5-10 days old, and just before your baby’s routine nap time. I’ll select a combination of backgrounds and props from my collection, specifically for your baby. Please have your heat turned up to about 80-85 degrees when I arrive (it helps keep them sleepy), and have baby dressed in only a diaper and blanket. We’ll start with some lifestyle shots of you caring for baby in his/her nursery, snuggling on your bed, etc. Then we’ll take a break so baby can be fed and lulled to sleep – during this time, I’ll set up the posing area and get my props ready. Then we will move to the posed shots. Please prepare to have one parent with baby at all times to act as a spotter. From start to finish, the session will take approximately 3-4 hours, but that can vary based on baby’s disposition.

Q: Why are my web-optimized images watermarked?

A: One of the best things about the internet is how wonderfully easy it has made staying in touch with long-distance friends and family, especially by sharing photos. Unfortunately, the ease of sharing photos also has a downside, in that you can never be fully sure someone won’t steal the image and claim it as his or her own. Each of my web-optimized photographs is digitally signed as well as watermarked to avoid this danger. If someone is really determined, they can still remove the watermark and claim the image, but it would no longer be as simple as a right-click.

Q: Do you offer any discounts?

A: Yes. Twice a year, I hold a day of discounted mini-sessions for my current clients; I also offer a 15% military discount year-round.
